And she was very pretty to boot. After I get back on my feet, I plan to revisit the Elk Grove Food Bank and replenish what they gladly gave me. So many nice people in this place. Faust ”
“ A friend of mine asked for a ride to this food bank because she was going through some things, and especially around the holidays she just really wanted to provide the basics for her family. We got there early and still had a pretty long wait, in total we waited an hour in line for her to register then about another hour to get called back. While we waited, we browsed the clothes closet and she was able to pick out winter clothes for her kids and herself. It seemed pretty well organized by clothing type and size. When it was her turn to pick her items I went back with her cause I was curious of what they offered and how it worked. They had some good stuff! It was Members Mark (Sams Club) premade meals, tons of bakery items from Raleys, baskets full of fruits and veggies (most of these seemed like they were hours from spoiling but some were ok) and of course lots of canned and boxed food. They even gave her feminine products and dog/cat food. Ive never been in a situation where I would need these services but seeing what they offer and how much it helps and how grateful the recipients are is such a nice thing to see. I'll definitely be donating items when I can to this location. ”
“ This past Christmas it was an honor to work with the Elk Grove Food Bank. A car club I run was able to throw a food drive to donate to the Elk Grove Food Bank. I worked with Valerie Erwin (Community Outreach Manager). She was easy to work with and welcomed our donation with open arms. The process was easy to donate. Drive towards the rear of the building and there's an garage door open with boxes to drop off the donations. We highly recommend donating to them. “ While doing some holiday cleaning, I got to thinking about the many clothes and shoes in my closet that have not been worn. Since the pandemic began, I work 100% from home. Therefore, I spend a majority of days working in workout or leisure clothing. I also thought about the unusually cold weather, and how these items could assist someone less fortunate. The aforementioned thoughts sent me on a mission to find a program that accepts clothing donations. Unfortunately, there are not too many organizations (at least that came up in my search) that provide free clothing to the public. A majority of the organizations (e.g. Goodwill) accept the clothing, and then sell them to the public. Prior to the pandemic, I used to donate clothing to the Sacramento Food Bank, they allow for individuals in-need to shop for clothing that was donated. However, the Sacramento Food Bank has temporarily suspended their acceptance of clothing donations. Fortunately, a conversation with my parent's led to them advising me to contact the Elk Grove Food Bank Services (which I did not know existed). When I arrived at the Elk Grove Food Bank Services I was warmly greeted by a volunteer operating a forklift, who instructed me to grab a shopping cart to load my donations onto. After loading my donations, I brought the cart to an open garage where staff would separate the clothing. In the process of walking the cart to the garage area, two individuals approached me inquiring about the sizes of the shoes that I was donating. They immediately grabbed the shoes of their liking, and profusely thanked me. This trip to the food bank was one of many reminders of the constantly growing issue of homelessness and poverty. Although there are many factors that play a part in reducing these two problems, it's good to know that there are non-profit organizations such as the Elk Grove Food Bank Services, that are aid in providing individuals and families with essential resources. Next time you're thinking about either throwing away clothing items or giving them to the Goodwill, I HIGHLY recommend donating them to the Elk Grove Food Bank Services. ”
“ I came here recently to donate some can goods for the thanksgiving holiday. The whole experience was super quick and easy. Although we did have some confusion to where we should donate, but once we were directed to the right place it was all smooth sailing. They weigh how much your donating. If need be, they also provide you a receipt for your records. Really quick and simple to donate here. ”
“ Thanksgiving Food Drive 2020! Drive thru service available for contactless donations. Volunteers help unload from your trunk. Google maps keeps trying to send me down Kent but since I've been here a couple of times this year I remembered to turn on Waterman. Just a suggestion, temporary signs could help promote the event and help find this place which is tucked into an industrial area, for now. ”
